California’s Attorney General Sues Vape Brand Attorney General Bob Ferguson, filed a lawsuit against Orange County-based vape company E-Juice Vapors, for marketing their products to teens, and failing to verify buyers’ ages before processing purchases. https://ift.tt/3nv6IOE

E-Juice Vapors failed to comply with numerous age verification requirements, intended to prevent youth from purchasing vape products online, and allegedly even with the investigation itself.

An investigation into the firm’s practices which began in December 2019, indicated that the company sold and shipped products into Washington without verifying buyers’ ages. E-Juice Vapors failed to comply with numerous age verification requirements, intended to prevent youth from purchasing vape products online, and allegedly even with the investigation itself. Additionally, the firm is accused of not holding a licence from the state of Washington to be able deliver products into the State as per Washington law. To this effect, the lawsuit, filed in King County Superior Court, seeks to block E-Juice Vapors’ from being able to complete any future unlawful sales, and force the firm to pay penalties for its unlawful conduct.

Investigators purchased e-liquids without having age verified

According to the lawsuit, investigators clicked on an image at the company’s web site for a “Candy King” branded category, with the intention of completing a purchase on one of the products in the Candy King line called “Blue Razz by Candy King Bubblegum.” This purchase, said the lawsuit, was successfully completed without verifying an age or submitting any identification. The product was delivered about two weeks after the online purchase was effected. The E-Juice Vapors’ page described the “Candy King” product line as “profiled to suggest a flavour like Sour Patch Kids, Strawberry Sour Belts, Swedish Fish and Strawberry Watermelon Bubbalicious.” The description continued, “take a gander…you will see they look precisely like sacks of your most loved candy.” “I worked with public health officials and a bipartisan group of elected officials to ensure we have strong age verification requirements for online vapor sales to youth,” said Ferguson. “My office’s investigation revealed that E-Juice Vapors put profits over the safety of its customers and completely ignored these requirements. We will hold E-Juice Vapors accountable for breaking the law and putting youth at risk.”
