Hope everyone is well!! We've written an article to help with one of the more obvious questions. Please let me know if this needs editing! Thank you from Freeman vape juice!

There are few things worse than a vape leaking! You pick up your vape to enjoy only to find that the vape juice has leaked out and made a mess. a vape tank leaking is an annoyance. There could be a lot of reasons for leaks so let’s take a look at a couple of them.

We also have a few tips and tricks to help you manage a leaky vape tank. Sometimes, however, you could just have a low quality product. It happens. If you have a vape pen leaking or a vape tank leaking and nothing seems to stop it, it could just be a defect or a bad product. Many clone vape tanks leak and there’s nothing you can do about it except chuck it away and get a better one.

But let’s be optimists! There may be things you can do to stop the leaks. First, we just need to figure out the answer to “why is my vape leaking?”

Why Is My Vape Leaking?

Why is my vape leaking? Many a vaper has asked this question in frustration. Vape juice can leak out of the airflow slots on a vape tank. The wick can become so saturated that the juice actually begins to go with the flow dictated by gravity and that means down through the airflow slot.

There could be a crack in your vape tank. Sometimes cracks in the glass can be hard to see. Even a slight crack can cause a leak. Vape juice is a liquid and it can seep through tiny cracks. Cracks get worse over time. You will want to replace the cracked glass as soon as possible.

The O-Rings! A vape leaking could be a result of a worn out O-ring. O-rings will dry out, crack,  and shrink over time. This will compromise the seal and could allow a leak. A new O-ring should do the trick.

A defective or a low-quality vape tank could also be responsible for a vape tank leaking. Bad coils with insufficient wicking will allow the e-juice to seep through the cotton and into the base of the tank where the airflow opening is. Again, there is not a lot you can do about a bad or defective product except get a new one, an authentic product, from a reputable brand.

What To Do About A Vape Tank Leaking

Tiny cracks in glass can spread and be hard to see.

What can you do about a vape tank leaking. The first thing is to inspect the glass for a crack. Remove the glass, flush it with water, and inspect it closely. Small cracks can be hard to see. Most vape tanks come with a spare glass tank. If you have a spare glass, try it and that might handle you vape leaking issue.

Check your O-rings. If you notice a vape tank leaking all of a sudden, it could very well be the O-rings. Your tank should have come with spare O-rings so try replacing them to see if that handles the leak. Always slightly moisten the O-rings or silicon seal with a drop of vape juice. This will help keep the O-ring from drying out.

If you travel with your vape, don’t totally fill your tank with vape juice before traveling by plane. At 30,000 feet, the e-liquid will expand and push out of any opening it can find. E-cigs and vape mods can take a lot of jostling when being transported. They may leak a little bit.

Remember, if you get any vape juice on your hands, wash with soap and water. Nicotine can be absorbed through the skin.

Tips To Prevent Vape Tank Leaking

Some vape tanks are prone to leak immediately after refilling. Especially to top-fill tank designs. To be on the safe side, close the airflow before each refill to minimize the chances of leaking. When you fill from the top, you are actually increasing the air pressure in the tank because the liquid is displacing the air.

  • Close the airflow before refilling a vape tank to help prevent vape juice leaks.

The increased air pressure can force vape tank leaking through the airflow slots at the base of the tank. If you close off the airflow before refilling, you will cut off that particular escape route and force the excess air to escape harmlessly through the open top-fill port.

If you notice a vape tank leaking after sitting overnight, closing the airflow slots when you are done vaping for the night can help prevent that type of vape leaking.

Vape bands can be a fantastic tool to not only protect your glass tank but also to help prevent vape leaking. Have one vape band around the middle of the tank to prevent the glass and another vape band that you can slide down over the base of the tank overnight and when carrying your vape in a pocket, purse, car, or what have you. The vape band may not prevent a vape tank leaking, but it can contain the mess.

Vape Pen Leaking

A vape pen leaking is usually handled by not overfilling. Vape pen tanks tend to be smaller and often leak out of the drip tip. They are especially vulnerable when tipped on their side such as when you are carrying one in a pocket or purse. Ego style tanks are notorious for this. There is not a lot you can do other than try and keep the vape pen upright.

If your vape pen was on its side all night, you can take a cotton swab and insert it into the drip tip before vaping. That way you will clear out some of the juice that may have leaked out during the night. Once you start vaping the leak should clear up.

Traveling With Vapes

Another thing that can cause vape leaks is air travel. If you take your vape gear with you on an airplane, it is possible that the vape tank could leak during the flight. The air pressure in an airplane cabin is designed to mimic the air pressure that exists at 10,000 feet. The change in air pressure will cause vape juice to expand. If a vape tank is full, expanded liquids will push our of airflow slots and drip tips.

All types of vape juice, and liquids, expand in lower air pressure. That is why it is a good idea not to travel with a full vape tank. Before you carry on your vape gear, make sure you tank is at half capacity or less. That can help prevent a leaky vape tank during a flight.

Vape Leaks Summary

Vape leaks suck! To wrap this up, let’s list out some of the tip to help prevent vape leaking:

  • Close the airflow slot when refilling a vape tank
  • Try and keep vape pens upright
  • Check your tank for cracks, replace glass if needed
  • Replace old, worn O-rings
  • Keep O-rings moist
  • Use vape bands to contain vape leaks that happen during transport

That’s about it!
