E-Liquid causing the ‘finish’ on my mod to peel off? https://ift.tt/2LQ5HSZ

I have a Vaporesso dual 18650 box mod that I've had a bit over a year now, and top it with a Falcon II tank. I pretty much exclusively use the same juice vendor, and just re-upped on a half gallon from them and noticed the 'throat hit' is way more harsher this time around, the liquid is WAY thinner. I just chalked it up to me poorly shaking up the half gallon prior to getting it in my tank.

I noticed on a tank refill this afternoon that the finish on top of my mod was bubbling slightly and peeling off. I've had plenty of mods in the past but never experienced this with usual wear and tear. My question is, would there be something chemically going on w/ the juice that would promote this kind of reaction of the finish peeling, or am I reading in to this too much and it IS just general wear and tear?
