INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, Pizza Dave delivering the freshest reviews I can. Today I will be going over a new Pod mod, the Manik by Wotofo. This one follows the same design as several others before it, including some that I review the PM series by Vaporesso. I believe this is the first time Wotofo is going down this road, so I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt and pick this apart just like the rest of them. let’s get right to it eh?

DISCLAIMER: This device was sent to me by Wotofo for review.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

First off, this thing looks badass. I am a black and red fan, so Wotofo really pulled out the stops to get me to gush about the looks for it. As far as pod mods go, I think it looks stellar, and I am a bit biased on this one, but oh well. Out of the gate, you are presented with a clear Wotofo package that we have seen countless times before. As far as the device goes…. let’s just go top to bottom. At the top, you have the 4.5ml pod. It has a built in drip tip that reminds me more of 510 bores than 810s. This pod locks into place with a button and has a flapper up top for refills without removing the pod. Below the release button is a protruding fire button. It’s nice and clicky with a soft press. Below this is a multi color screen. Factory, mine was set to white and red. Below this are the up and down adjustment buttons and then there is a micro USB port below then. Down at the bottom is a slide and hinge battery door. Nothing too incredible here. Standard issue battery bay for a single 18650. I do want to mention the leather panel on the back as it feels great, offers some grip, and gives the device some nice styling.

OPERATION

This device is very easy to use. They kept it simple, and it took nothing to just grab and just.

  • 5 clicks of the fire button turns the device on and off
  • Pressing up and down together locks the wattage adjustment
  • Pressing fire and down together resets the puff counter
  • Pressing fire and up together cycles the screen color. Red, yellow, green, blue, purple, white, and back to red again.
  • Pressing the fire button three times will lock the fire button out for safe pocketting.

That’s about it. It has a full screen, so simply monitor the battery level and see what’s happening when it comes to faults. I charged mine with USB a few times without issue, but I strongly recommend using an external charger to avoid device heating and potential failures.

USEAGE

Alright, so the section that matters most is here. How does this vape and what type of vape does it provide? Well, like many of the higher powered pod mods, this is a flavor and cloud chucking type of vape. The air flow is not adjustable, but does vary a little from coil to coil. This is mostly made for lots of airflow, lots of vapor, and solid flavor. I would compare this to the likes of the Vaporesso PM series of pod mods. They vape so much like one another that I wouldn’t be able to tell in a blind test. This isn’t a bad thing at all, as those were some of the most solid devices I used last year. I felt that the flavor from both coils was solid, but that was expected as I have experienced some great flavor from the subsidiary Nexmesh before. I didn’t really track the coil life all that well, but do know that I was able to refill at least 4 times on each without flavor loss. I also experienced some leaking in the base of the pods when the coils were at end of life. The liquid I used was very very sweet, and is known to kill coils early. The device overall though is a joy to use. It is about the same size as most pod mods out there, feels solid, and has enough battery from an 18650 to get through a day without issue. I was really driven to the look and feel of this one and it’s one of the better ones I have used that fits me well. While I don’t use wide open airflow devices all that much anymore, this was a good experience.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Going to keep the final thoughts short because I pretty much said all in the usage section. Flavor is solid, vapor is plentiful, and the device feels great in hand. I love the screen on this, as it shows what I need, but still offers some nice color options to change up the look. The system is easy to use as well, without bloating it up with settings menus and things most won’t care about. Another simple, yet nice feature is the locking pod. It ain't going anywhere. There are a couple of cons to report though. One, there is no airflow adjustment. You get what you get, and it’s airy. This is more of a 3mg type device. Another con for some might be the micro usb charge port. I would like to just see USB-C on all devices, but this won’t likely be used all that much anyway. Overall, I think Wotofo did a solid job with this device. If you are looking into a pod mod type device, this does as well as any other out there, and feels well built. Not enough cons to outweigh the pros here.

OVEN TEST – If this were to accidentally fall into the pizza oven, would I go out and get another? I get a lot of these, so I’ll use it until I have no more coils and that’s about where it will sit, plus, I am mostly MTL now.

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! \***Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.*
