Geekvape Aegis Max 100W out of the box “no power” problem fixed https://ift.tt/2KK5HDx

Summary: The 18650 battery adapter had to much of a ridge which made the connecting pin not connect to the battery cover. Therefore the circuit wasn’t made and there was no power. Took off about 2mm of the ridge so it would connect, put it all together and it works perfect 😀

Long story: A week ago I bought myself a Aegis Max as a Christmas present with a 18650 battery. When I put it together It didn’t work. It wouldn’t power on and when connected to a pc it would power on but gave “atomizer short protection” warnings and wouldn’t do a factory reset. After contacting the supplier and sending them video’s of the problem I just got the answer “we are sending you a new battery”. Hoping it would solve the problem I waited for the new battery which arrived yesterday. Popped it in but no, didn’t work. Had contact with Geekvape support who tried their best but couldn’t quite figure it out yet and would put it through to their tech team. I just wanted my aegis to work so I thought, why am i not troubleshooting it myself. I studied engineering and well, this is just electrical engineering in a small package. Took me 5 minutes before I figured it out. The aegis max works with 18650 as well as 21700 batteries. To use a 18650, you have to use the adapter that comes with it. The mod wasn’t getting power so I measured the battery in the adapter, which worked fine. Then I measured the adapter with the battery screw on cover pressed against it, which gave me no reading. Looking at the cover and the adapter it became clear. The adapter pin wasn’t touching the cover which in turn didn’t complete the circuit hence no power. When I put a piece of steel between, so it would make contact, and measured again it gave a good reading. I took off about 2mm of material from the adapter so it would make contact itself, put everything together and it came alive. Put on the atomizer and it worked perfect, no more warnings nothing.
