Pizza Dave Delivers – An AIO Review – The SX Nano by Yihi SX Mini https://ift.tt/2L4iQaq

INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone, Pizza Dave delivering the freshest reviews I can. Today I will be going over another auto feeding pod device, the SX Nano by Yihi. This device is one of a few attempts by the company to achieve automated vaping. I tested their SX Auto squonk last winter, and I was a big fan. With some small changes to the design, the board, and size, let’s see what the Nano is made of eh?

DISCLAIMER: This device was sent to me by Yihi for review.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Alright, so per usual, Yihi packages everything in some sexy white boxes. Almost feels like I am getting jewelry and not vaping hardware. The device itself looks very dated. I mean, this could have come out in 2012 and it would have blended right in. Starting at the top, you’ll see the ADA V2. This now has a metal heatsink style to it, rather than a cheap plastic rda look. Working our way down and there is a small round fire button, then a tiny screen, then some basic buttons. Down along the one side is the 2ml reservoir, which slides right out the bottom smoothly. At the very bottom is a USB-C charge port.

OPERATION

*****I want to mention that I used this for a very short time with factory firmware. I updated it almost right away because from the factory it wasn’t showing battery level correctly.

Alright, so let’s get into using this one. I will say one thing out of the gate. They made this one way more simple than the first iteration out of the box. It can still be tweaked a lot, but for the most part, it just works.

  • Five clicks of the fire button turn the device on and off
  • 3 clicks of the fire button locks and unlocks the operation
  • Hold up or down buttons to either manually pump up or down the liquid into the ADA
  • Pressure the up button to scroll through the operating mode. Normal, Warm, Cool. it is just how it sounds, and these have automated temps. and pump speeds.
  • Press the down button to adjust the pump speed for the mode you are in.
  • Click the fire button 5 times and it will enter a menu. This menu has the following.
    • shut down
    • firmware update
    • exit
    • help – various info
    • brightness

That’s really all there is to know about this one. When you first get this, you can saturate the ADA with the bottom of liquid or simply hold the up button down and fill it up. It is pretty much ready to vape as soon as everything is soaked. If the coil is too dry or too wet, you may need to adjust the pump speed accordingly. For the most part, they seemed to work with factory settings.

USEAGE

Alright, so this is what really matters. Basically, this device is a bit quirky and weird. It uses the pump system, but this pump system works. I have used 3 other devices before this, so it wasn’t really anything new to me. I played around and got this set up just where I liked it. I vaped it with 25mg salts, on warm vape, and bumped the pump setting down two clicks from the factory. I left airflow wide open and simply enjoyed the piss out of it. The flavor was solid, the airflow feels like a restricted RDA, and the pump system worked flawlessly. it provides a really good mtl experience for salts of higher MG freebase. That’s all there is to it.

The coils on the ada are pretty neat. They are like a little disc that is prefilled with cotton. They simply pop in and out and make contact in the bottom. They are easy to take a peak at and make sure they aren’t nasty. They also last a fair amount of time. I think I got like 22 mg of some major coil killing liquid through coil number one and it still could have been used a little longer, just lost flavor.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Alright, so I spoiled this one again in the how it vapes section, but here it is. It works, and it works well. Sure it is a little complicated, but it’s a device that provides a really good vape when everything is set up right. The flavor is like having a good MTL RDA, with airflow to match that. The pumping system works consistently, so once it is set it just works all day every day. I never came across major things that turned me off. I guess one thing I’d mention is the small tank. I mean, 2ml is gone in a hurry. It lasts a night out or a work day, but still small. The other thing I didn't like was the battery level. It was terrible before the firmware update, but only a little better after firmware. It was just hard to gauge exactly how much battery was left! When charging before the firmware update, it never got to 100% and flashed different values all over the place. Beyond these couple of buggy things, I do like this device. I do find it a bit weird that it looks so dated for it being a new device, so I definitely feel their other model won in that department, but I do like other things about this. For one, it seems easier to use out of the box. The menu, which is a little tough to navigate, is more simple and doesn’t give you quite the options to mess it up somehow. All in all, I see progress in the technology, and also, if you ever doubt the durability, I rocked the original model for like 9 months and it never failed me.

In all honesty, I don’t touch my other pods now. All I want to use is this.

OVEN TEST – If this were to accidentally fall into the pizza oven, would I go out and get another? I am so happy I was given some spare ADAS because I will use the crap out of it.

PROS

  • Good flavor
  • Fun to tinker with
  • Reliable
  • Pocketable
  • Just a neat little device

______________________________________________________________________________

CONS

  • Reservoir could be a hair bigger
  • Battery could be a hair bigger
  • They still need to tweak the menus to be a little more simple, but it isn’t bad
  • On the spendy side

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! \***Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.*
